Summermusik - Spirit Chief Names the Animal People

Spirit Chief Names the Animal People is a family-friendly event for kids aged 8–13 and their families, focusing on the importance of water in Native American culture. Participants will enjoy a read-aloud of "We Are Water Protectors," create a water-inspired tapestry, and explore music and dance. The event features performances by Starr Chief Eagle (Lakota hoop dancer) and Connor Chee (Navajo pianist), along with storytelling and choral works. Free admission with a suggested $15 donation; reservations encouraged.

3-4pm:

Craft time! Make a water-inspired tapestry with Learning Through Art, Inc.
Participants will take home a book pack* which includes the children’s book We Are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstorm and an accompanying study guide as part of the Books Alive! For Kids® arts literacy program. We Are Water Protectors seeks to “help educate young people about the importance of water and how we must protect it and care for it.”
*A limited number of books are available. Arrive early to ensure you get your copy!
