Anniversaries are always a time to reflect, look back and relive the highlights…and to celebrate! That’s justwhat we plan to do! The launching of our new website and the vibrancy of our new look should give you a little insight into just how excited we are. Our fresh designs and infusion of colors, courtesy of our illustrious graphic designer, Hillary Wood, just shout “come play!” And that’s kind of the point…

Our new tagline, “Don’t just learn…experience!,” is borne out of a desire to better describe the feedback we receive regularly from the students we serve, the arts organizations we partner with and guests to our events. There truly is something for everyone, so we invite you along to experience that first-hand. This summer, in celebration of our anniversary, we’ve planned a myriad of events to give you chance to do just that – and almost everything is absolutely free!

Starting on June 21, you’ll have an opportunity to join us on Fountain Square for the Best of Snaps Virtual Photo Exhibition on Macy’s Jumbotron, featuring past winning photographs from the Cincinnati Snaps Competition. Or take photos yourself for this year’s Cincinnati Snaps Photo Competition – just upload them here on the LTA site between now and August 30, and you’re entered into a juried competition with a chance to be featured in the 2013 virtual exhibition!

The Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County will serve as home to two of our free programs this summer, where you can participate in our Books Alive! For Kids® Summer Library Tour at one of the many branches, or visit the Main Library for a look at ‘What Children Believe’ International Art Exhibition, featuring local and international artwork done by children. These are on display during the World Choir Games until September 30.

July 18 marks the return of the wildly popular Macy’s Kids, Cultures, Critters & Crafts Festival at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. For just $1 per person, you can join us for a day-long global experience, featuring entertainment from around the world. Then join us November 9 as Diane Schuur takes the stage alongside LTA’s own Kathy Wade for the return of Crown Jewels of Jazz®.

Take a minute to fish around and get a feel for what we’ve got to offer – it’s our personal invitation to come along and celebrate with us! Don’t forget to check out the ‘About Us’ section for information about the faces behind the organization, and be sure to visit the Lart Mart to see all the exciting educational and craft materials from Books Alive! For Kids® now available for direct purchase. And definitely break out your calendar before you get started: you won’t want to miss any of the great events and exhibits planned for the 20^th Anniversary Celebration!

Best of Snaps Photo Exhibition Opens on Fountain Square Jumbotron

Competition Returns for LTA’s 20^th Anniversary Celebration

In celebration of the 20^th Anniversary, LTA will produce Best of Snaps showcasing a compilation of winning photos from the past six years submitted to the Cincinnati Snaps competition. The Best of Snaps Photo Exhibition opens on June 21 at Noon and continues through August 30, 2012 on the Fountain Square Jumbotron. The photo competition will be featured on-line with voting from the public to select the 2012 winning photographs.

Books Alive! For Kids® – Library Tour 2012

LTA’s 20th Means All-Star Lineup at Macy’s Kids, Cultures, Critters & Crafts Festival

Macy’s Kids, Cultures, Critters & Crafts Festival, hosted by Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, features Best of Show performances from the event’s past six years. This year’s event takes place on Wednesday, July 18 from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. With admission of just $1 — and $1 round-trip bus fare on the One for Fun Bus, Route 1– the whole family can’t afford NOT to come to this annual Cincinnati tradition!
